Alignment is what creates the right pathways in the body: so energy (Qi) can move freely instead of getting stuck.
When the body is structured correctly, tension can be released, the joints open, and the whole system starts to connect.
Instead of forcing movement, the body becomes a clear channel where Qi can flow naturally.

How that process works:

Remove Physical Obstacles:
Habitual tension (like hunching shoulders or locking knees) acts as a physical barrier. By aligning your skeleton to support your weight, you allow your muscles to relax. A relaxed muscle is a "soft" conduit that lets energy pass through, whereas a tight, tense muscle creates a blockage.

Connect the Joints:
Tai Chi teaches you to "open the joints" (such as the hips, shoulders, and spine). When the joints are aligned and relaxed, they act as clear junctions where the energy can transition smoothly from one part of the body to another without getting "stuck."

Grounding and Centering:
Correct alignment creates a direct connection between you and the ground. This stability provides the "pressure" needed to push the energy back up through the system, creating a continuous, circulating loop of Qi rather than a stagnant pool.
